Ingeniousbreathless suspense. Nation

A superb suspense story and dark tale of obsession.... Ingram

A shadow of unease; a quickening pulse; an unnamed fear breathing on the collar of those who sit alone in their dressing rooms at the great Paris Opera. An unbearable compulsion to glance quickly over a shoulder in the dark corridors to the stage would sometimes reveal a figure in evening clothes moving softly in the shadowsa figure no one could name. Nothing is done, however, until the disappearance of Christine Daa during her triumphant performance. With an increasing pattern of fear and violence, the Phantom of the Opera begins to strike but always with a beautiful young performer at the center of his deadly desires.

Gaston Leroux (1868-1927), French novelist, was born in Paris. By the age of twenty-two, he had become a full-time journalist, and from 1894 to 1906 he sailed the world as a correspondent, reporting back to Paris various adventures he took part in, including the Russian Revolution of 1905. In the early 1900s, he began writing novels. He became best known for Le Fantôme de l'Opéra (The Phantom of the Opera), which appeared in 1910 but did not achieve international celebrity until the silent film version was produced in 1925.

Ralph Cosham has acted in numerous roles for film and TV and in more than one hundred professional theater roles in addition to narrating books for Blackstone Audiobooks. He lives in Reston, Virginia.

Have you always loved reading but sometimes find it hard to find the time? Theres nothing quite like curling up with a good book but many of us cannot do that as much as we would llike. We sacrifice this special time because we have so many other things to do each day. It is a common problem and it is the reason why people on average are not reading as much as they once did. Audio books bring the story to life just as the storytellers of the past did. They allow you to experience the book in a whole new way; in the way the writer felt and heard it in their head. You can feel the emotion when you allow audio books to let the story come to life.
