It is the summer of 1916 and for two years Holmes and Watson have been retired from their criminal investigations. Upon hearing that his dear friend Holmes is fading from this world after a long illness, Dr. Watson travels to the white seaside cottage in Sussex for what he knows will be their last meeting. That evening, after sharing their fond recollections of the many cases they have solved together, Sherlock Holmes unexpectedly tells Watson he is about to tell the truth of what really transpired at Reichenbach Falls. His narrative reveals that not Moriarty, but someone matching his third party descriptions (they had never actually met before), perished in the dark torrents of Reichenbach. Holmes' escape to Florence, an encounter with an English woman who is not what she seems, a bizarre plot to lure Holmes to his death, a surprise visit from the real Moriarty and an unspoken agreement, fill the two friends' final, emotional hours together.

Thus, according to David Stuart Davies touching and revelatory account, ends the final chapter in the tales of London's detective extraordinaire – Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Fittingly, David Ian Davies' portayals of Holmes and Watson in this story strike just the right chord; Watson's moments of shock and disbelief and understanding and Holmes' courageous indifference to his ebbing condition in order to make this closing of the circle tolerable for his closest and dearest friend.

"...to refer to David's Sherlock Holmes productions as simply dramatic readings is a major understatement, as he brings a wonderful range of distinctly unique voices into play as he essays each of the characters, creating a marvelously layered and rich listening experience that showcases Arthur Conan Doyle's masterful use of language." - Charles Prepolec, bakerstreetdozen.com

"...David Ian Davies's reading of The Tangled Skein is a full-blooded theatrical performance that does justice to his near-namesake's gripping narrative. - Roger Johnson, Editor District Messenger Newspaper, The Sherlock Holmes Society of London

"...To call this only a reading of the classic Sherlock Holmes story, would be to devalue the beauty of this performance. Although you may have heard recordings of the Sherlock Holmes work read before with distance and haughty affectation, none of that is present in Mr. Davies storytelling performance. This features one man, many voices and a hefty portion of talent. This performance is fresh, approachable and inviting. - Sam Buvala, Storyteller.net, Reviews

"Mr. Davies's reading of The Hound of the Baskervilles adds mastery to a masterpiece! Mr. Davies is an absolute virtuoso of voices and dialects. It is difficult to believe that this unabridged narration of Sir Arthur's most famous Holmes case is done only by one man and not being performed by a troupe of actors and actresses. Limited space doesn't allow us to do full justice to describe this recording, but suffice it to say that Mr. Davies's performance has received "raves" from independent reviewers. Even when you hear it, you won't believe it! - sherlock-holmes.com

Have you always loved reading but sometimes find it hard to find the time? Theres nothing quite like curling up with a good book but many of us cannot do that as much as we would llike. We sacrifice this special time because we have so many other things to do each day. It is a common problem and it is the reason why people on average are not reading as much as they once did. Audio books bring the story to life just as the storytellers of the past did. They allow you to experience the book in a whole new way; in the way the writer felt and heard it in their head. You can feel the emotion when you allow audio books to let the story come to life.
