For an instant the two trains ran together, side by side. In that frozen moment, Elspeth witnessed a murder.

Helplessly, she stared out of her carriage window as a man remorselessly tightened his grip around a woman’s throat. The body crumpled. Then the other train drew away.

But who, apart from Miss Marple, would take her story seriously?

After all, there were no suspects, no other witnesses… and no corpse.

Article 1:

I have to tell you, dear reader, about this wonderful website I have found, audiobookquest.com. Summer is upon us and I need to drop some weight so I don't totally embarrass myself in my bathing suit. Dieting isn't working quite the way I would like it to so I have decided to walk myself into that new bikini. Well, maybe not a bikini but something that looks suspiciously like a bathing suit. I find just walking or working out to be a bore and I get tired of listening to the same old tunes on my MP3 player.

Then I remembered that in the past I listened to Books on Tape with my mom while cooking big family dinners. I actually enjoyed it and wondered if they had started selling books on CD or even MP3's that were available for me buy for my MP3 unit. I got on the internet and found audiobookquest.com. Apparently they had a whole library of recorded books for download. I was amazed at the variety of books offered, fiction and non-fiction.

I started by checking out my favorite author, Agatha Christie and found a whopping 16 audio books. I figured that Agatha and I would walk our way into that summer bathing suit. The audiobookquest website makes it easy for you to purchase your download and I have the ease and convenience of shopping from home in my jammies.

My first book downloaded from the Audiobook Quest is "4:50 From Paddington". Most of Agatha Christie's books take place in the United Kingdom and this one involves a train. Elspeth Magillicuddy witnesses a murder by chance on another train passing slowly by.

Elspeth is a reasonable woman and not prone to wild fancies but that won't matter to most people. She thinks to herself that they will think she is stark raving mad. Still she feels she must do her duty and report what she has seen. So Elspeth writes a note to the stationmaster and assumes that this will put an end to the matter. But will it be the end or will something come of it? Did her eyes deceive her or did she really see someone being murdered.

Well I will have to walk and listen to see what happens. I love trains and although I have never been on one I can experience a train ride through the English countryside. This recording is 6 hours long and although I am not going to be walking for 6 hours I know I will want to listen to it while I am cooking dinner. It seems I will be buying another book from Audiobook Quest soon because I am dying to hear how this one ends.

The villagers of Chipping Cleghorn, including Miss Marple, are agog with curiosity over an advertisement in the local gazette which reads: ‘A murder is announced and will take place on Friday October 29th, at Little Paddocks at 6.30 p.m.’

A childish practical joke? Or a hoax intended to scare poor Letitia Blacklock?

Unable to resist the mysterious invitation, a crowd begins to gather at Little Paddocks at the appointed time when, without warning, the lights go out…

Are You Watching Me?

This is the third week in a row that my weight loss has been stalled at 20 pounds. I am told that as long as I don’t gain it back it counts. I guess I am going to have to step up and add some more exercise sessions. Tom has turned out to be a really nice guy. I enjoy his company but he is newly divorced and very clingy. He wants to know my every thought and action and I am not sure how this will work out. He keeps showing up in places that he is unexpected. It is a little spooky

I begged off with him because we planned to walk together and I feel like being by myself. I know it is dumb but I feel the need to find another place to walk today, just in case he decides to show up. I will try going down to the waterfront and walking there. I want to be by myself today but I want to be where there are people.

I have a new talking book from the Audiobookquest and I will try to forget about things for a while by listening to the audio book. This one is called “A Murder is Announced”. Mrs. Marple is back on the job in this one. I haven’t read one of her books in awhile. In this novel she is visiting a town called Chipping Cleghorn and is surprised to see an announcement in the morning paper about a murder that is about to talk place. Friday, October 29h, at 6:30PM to be exact and it will happen at Little Paddocks.

Responding to their own curiosities a crowd begins to form at Little Paddocks. Finally the clock changes to 6:30 and suddenly the lights go out. No telling what has happened and I have to get walking and listening to find out. It will be nice to get lost in this story. It will keep my mind off of my own mystery.

It bothers me that I feel safer with a crowd of people around me and yet I want to be alone. I have an uncomfortable feeling lately and I am at a loss as to why. I am probably just being paranoid. It’s all these Detective Novels that I read, they get my imagination going. Still I feel like someone is always watching me. The strange thing is, I didn’t feel like this before I met Tom. That doesn’t sit well with me. Maybe I should do some investigating of my own. Check him out on the Internet and see if he has any sinister factoids that I need to know about him. More later on this.

With impeccable timing Hercule Poirot, the renowned Belgian detective, makes his dramatic entrance on to the English crime stage.

Recently, there had been some strange goings on at Styles St Mary. Evelyn, constant companion to old Mrs Inglethorp, had stormed out of the house muttering something about ‘a lot of sharks’. And with her, something indefinable had gone from the atmosphere. Her presence had spelt security; now the air seemed rife with suspicion and impending evil.

A shattered coffee cup, a splash of candle grease, a bed of begonias… all Poirot required to display his now legendary powers of detection.

Dating Regrets

My weight loss is up to 30 pounds and I have done this in almost 3 months. I think I have lost more weight than I should though because I am so stressed about my stalker. I have finally been able to get proof that Tom is the one that is terrorizing me. While I am upset about it, at least now I can put a face to my tormentor.

I haven’t seen Tom at all while working because he was moved to another department, which is fine with me. But today he stopped me in my tracks when we passed each other in the hall. He gave me flowers right there in front of everybody at work. Even though it was a nice gesture, now everybody at work knows that I was dating him. Now they will think we are an item, which we aren’t. I’ll know he did it on purpose so people would think we are dating. Not anymore, that is for sure.

When he got home I found several messages pleading with me to meet him for coffee so we can make plans for our future. When he didn’t receive a call back he left another message for me telling me he would “take care of me” if he found out that I was dating someone else. I finally have something in the way of proof to take to the police to get some help.

I decided to go down and make a report and wait for as long as necessary to speak to a detective about this. I need to put my mind at ease on this one. I expect to wait so I have another talking book I can take with me. Good old Agatha again. This is another Poirot Mystery. This one is “The Mysterious Affair At Styles”. This is another one that mom read so we can talk about it after. She refuses to tell me what happens in these things and tells to just finish listening to my book. Darn her.

I went to the station and waited probably 2 hours. But it proved to be worth it. I met with a Detective named Gray Kelso. He listened to me attentively and gave me a course of action to follow. First I have to get a No Contact order from the judge. Then is has to be served but in the meantime he advises me to stay with my mom and no going out alone. He is very nice and quite attractive. Now, why can’t I meet a nice guy like him instead of Tom the Stalker.

He followed me home to make sure I picked a few of my things safely and then he followed me to my mother’s house. Obviously I had to tell mom about this whole mess. She is concerned but glad I went to the police. She thinks that Detective Kelso is quite handsome. I agree.

Everyone blamed Emily’s accident on a rubber ball left on the stairs by her frisky terrier. But the more she thought about her fall, the more convinced she became that one of her relatives was trying to kill her.

On April 17th she wrote her suspicions in a letter to Hercule Poirot. Mysteriously he didn’t receive the letter until June 28th… by which time Emily was already dead…

Dead Body on a Plane

I guess the title says it all. I looked at this book from the audiobookquest and this is the next audio book to be added to my library. Mr. Poirot again, that cunning little Belgium gentleman, is our master sleuth. He has himself in quite pickle this time. He has a full compliment of fellow passengers including a Countess with an apparent coke addiction and a detective writer. Things are lively enough that nobody knows that someone is dead in their seat.

That is as far as the clip went on the audiobookquest site but it was pretty good at reeling me in. I am hard at work trying to keep up my commitment to the exercise gods. This book makes me think about what it is to ride planes these days. Reading about it is one thing, but planes don’t hold quite the attraction that they did when I was a child. To many hi-jackings and terrorists for us not to be somewhat sober when we travel. Our innocence at being the happy travelers is gone.

That is why the thought that there could be a dead body on the plane sitting right next to you kinda creepy. This should really keep my interest as I walk. Today I decided to walk along the waterfront down by the Port. There will be a crowd today because the sun is out and it is the weekend.

My diet has stalled a bit and I try not to get discouraged but will keep at my scheduled exercise each week. I met a new guy at work. I can’t figure out where he came from. Either he just started working there or he noticed me after I lost weight and started looking great. I have no idea how he noticed me, but he made sure I noticed him.

Moneybooker Casinos I stepped on the scale yesterday and it said I had lost a total of 18 pounds. I have been watching my diet so I think that may help me to loose more weight. A diet and exercise is a sure way to loose. This week I am going to a park in the downtown. Everything is in bloom right now so I might even take my camera.

While I am driving a can start my audio book. I am very curious about that dead body on the plane. Poirot is on the plane so at least we know it will land. You can’t take out the main character of the book so I am comforted that at least our little Belgian will survive to find the body and solve the mystery of his killer.
